With their roots way back in 1982, it is likely that Black Fire was one of the world’s first extreme metal bands from Southeast Asia. Hailing originally from Perlis in Malaysia, Black Fire was inspired by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal sound of bands like Iron Maiden and especially Venom. During the 1980s the band performed at several local rock festivals and gigs, although for several decades they never recorded any of their music.
That finally changed in 2023 when Black Fire released their debut album, The Enourmous Wrath. Now, to build on the success of that album, the band have embarked on their debut international tour and have chosen the UK as their destination. Liverpool’s famous Zanzibar club is the first stop on that tour and rock and metal fans in Merseyside have the distinct privilege of welcoming a truly unique band.
As Black Fire recently told Mark Cooper of the Spoken Metal Show podcast, they are “honoured” to be the first extreme metal band to be supported by the Malaysian Government. They also stated how they hoped the tour would be a “positive movement for extreme metal in Malaysia”.
Supported by Manchester’s Napierdalać, alongside Merseyside metal bands, Steel Forge and Apollyon Rising, their Liverpool tour date is tomorrow (8th April). This event, which is free entry, sees doors open at 5.00pm so fans are advised to get there early so as not to miss out on what is likely to be one of the most momentous metal gigs of 2025.
